The Hunt for Led October: (Your World Series Champion) Dodgers

The Dodgers have hit many post-season home runs, but how many of them are ledgers?

We continue with our Hunt for Led October series with an examination of all the other post-season “ledgers” that have been hit, but did not complete a player’s full ledger. Next up we take a look at the Dodgers and their post-season home runs.

WORLD SERIES ERA (1903-1968)

We start off in the first half of the Modern Era when the only post-season was the World Series. In this section you will find all the post-season home runs hit by a Dodger and an indication that the home run was:

  • Standing – they would not go on to hit a regular season against that opponent

  • Provisional – they would hit a regular season home run against that opponent (with the date of the first instance)

  • No ledger – either the player hit a post-season home run against that opponent already OR they hit a regular season home run against the opponent before joining the Yankees (with date of first instance)

CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ERA (1969-Present)

We continue with the theme, but streamlined. The League Championship Series was introduced in 1969 and the Division Series and Wild Card series have been subsequently added. In this section, we’ve removed any post-season home run hit by a Yankee that would not have been a ledger at the time. Each home run is indicated as Standing or Provisional using the criteria from the previous section.
