The struggling slugger was released by the Astros but who could give the free agent a chance to join the Club?
The first couple editions of Best Case Scenario focused on trade potentials for players who can’t join the Club right now based on the team they play for. José Abreu is different since he’s a free agent after being released by the Astros last week. If a team wanted to give him a chance, where could he go to keep a chance to join the v30 Club?
Abreu needs a home run against the Braves, White Sox, Mets, and Padres.
He could join either the Pirates or Rockies on or before June 30th. The Marlins would be a possibility until July 7th while he could join the Twins on or before July 31 to have a shot.
But chances are he won’t sign on to a team this season (or he’ll sign later in the summer) so we’ll look to 2025 for future chances.
