Should the floundering White Sox flip the pending free agent? What teams gives him the best v30 odds?

We are less than two months away from the trade deadline and that means players could start to see v30 possibilities where there were none before.

The woeful White Sox may be looking to acquire young talent and Paul DeJong has shown his bat still has some pop (14 HR and 117 OPS+ as of June 16). But what destination would give him the most opportunity to join the v30 Club?

If traded today (June 17) or before the deadline

The Rangers would provide the most opportunities for DeJong for the majority of time before the trade deadline. Right now they have ten games remaining against the Angels, seven against the White Sox, six against the Twins, and three against the Cardinals. Other chances exist with the Royals, Mariners, Cubs, Braves, and Mets.

The Braves fall off the list of candidates after June 27 and their make-up game versus the White Sox.

The Mariners aren’t possible after June 30th as they finish their matchups against the Twins. However, if DeJong hits a home run against the Twins in the Chicago-Minnesota series starting on June 8th, the Mariners become a possibility again until July 28 which is their last game vs. the White Sox.

The Cubs conclude a series with the Angels on June 7, removing them from a possibility. That leaves the Rangers, Royals, and Mets as the only destinations prior to the deadline.

If traded at the deadline

The Rangers wrap up their series against the Cardinals on July 31 while the Royals and White Sox do the same. This means if DeJong is dealt on trade deadline day, the only team he can go to and still join the club is the Mets who would have three against the White Sox, three against the Angels, and a single make-up game against the Cardinals. This is assuming he hits a home run against the Twins while still with the White Sox (if he doesn’t there are no destinations that work).
