Moving on from the Mets is a possibility. What teams gives him the best v30 odds?

We are less than two months away from the trade deadline and that means players could start to see v30 possibilities where there were none before.

The Mets are likely going to be sellers and Pete Alonso is in a very favorable trade situation. But what destination would give him the most opportunity to join the v30 Club?

If traded today (June 8)

If Alonso could be playing for a new team on June 9, the Mariners would give him the best opportunity to join for the rest of the season. He would have seven games against the White Sox, ten against the Rangers, and three against the Mets. His likelihood score calculates to a pretty good 36. There’s even some agreement the Mariners are good possibility for a trade partner.

If traded on June 13

But the situation changes quickly as the Mariners and White Sox begin a four-game series on June 10. By the end of that series, Alonso’s new best destination would be Anaheim (6 vs CHW, 10 vs TEX, 3 vs NYM; 34 likelihood score).

If traded between June 21 and July 31

It’s unlikely Alonso is traded in June. The Mets and Rangers square off for three games starting on June 19th. If he were to hit a home run in this series, his best destination would still be the Angels but they would be equaled by the Athletics and Twins (all teams 6 vs CHW and 3 vs NYM; 38 likelihood score).

The Angels would continue be his ideal destination up until the trade deadline. On August 1st they would still have six games against the White Sox, seven against the Rangers (if he didn’t hit one against them while still with the Mets), and three against the Mets.

Only four other teams would be matches for v30 possibilities at the deadline – the Athletics and the Red Sox if he does not hit one against the Rangers in June and add the Padres and Orioles if he does.

Here’s the rundown of the last possible date Alonso could join every v30-eligible team and still hit one against all three needed opponents:

  1. Arizona – June 16

  2. Houston – June 30

  3. San Diego – July 4*

  4. Pittsburgh – July 8

  5. Baltimore – July 21*

  6. New York Yankees – July 24

  7. Seattle – July 28

  8. Minnesota – 7/31

  9. Los Angeles Angels, Boston, and Oakland – post trade deadline

    * indicates also a post-deadline team if Alonso hits one against the Rangers while still playing for the Mets
